Without an education or training that will secure for you a decent paying job there's limited opportunity, but if you're not afraid to start knocking on doors, look at what talents or experience you have that others would be willing to pay to have your services. Particularly consider what it is you have a passion for doing. To find this, it is often best to ask yourself what you would do for a career if you already had millions of dollars in the bank but still had to have a career. The key is to remove money from consideration even though, as a single mom, this may be uppermost in your mind. Once you have identified this, can you pursue this without further education, i.e., can you use a computer and print up a few business cards and then start knocking on doors marketing your business. Your pitch can be as simple as, "Hello, my name is..., and I do... If you ever have need of this type of service, etc., I would sure appreciate a call. I promise you I'll do a good job, I guarantee my work, and you will be pleased with the results." Then leave them with one of your cards. If you will do this faithfully, and if you will do what you promise others, you can have a successful business. I know because this is what I did when I lost my job over 20 years ago, and was wondering how I would feed my family. Face to face meetings with others and this simple message followed by always fulfilling your commitments will be rewarded. Following my own advice, I now earn an annual income of six figures. As you pursue your own dream, beware of sharing it with others as most people are jealous and will shoot your dreams down. Good luck and God bless.

start selling items that you don't need. then get what ever help you can from the state (short term hopefully), then fill out as many applications as possible for anything that you might be remotely qualified to do...

good luck!
