I'm sure it's possible because I've seen it being done and you choose from a drop-down menu but I can't remember the technique. Thanks in advance.

Nope none of the first 4 questions have helped me
(sorry guys- no offence). I really only want to choose from a drop-down menu on my actual data like in iTunes when you type in a word in the search section and it only finds songs with that word in it.

Okay, so maybe filters do do it for me, but I just probably wasn't using them right. Many thanks to TheHumbleOne. =D

Go to Tools --> Filters and choose Advanced Filters.

I don't understand why filters "does not do it for you." I use this all the time.

click the Table-select button to the left of A, and above #1.
This will select the whole file.
click Tools
click Autofilter
You will see a down arrow on each column
click the down-arrow on the column you want, then select the criteria

You can also filter, refilter, etc until you end up with what you want.

You could also create a "custom" filter by choosing that option. You can create a custom filter and sort.
What more do you want?

When finished, turn the filter off by clicking Tools, click Autofilter.

From the tool bar go into Data/Import External Data/New Database query. This opens Microsoft Query. You can then either choose to run the wizard or not. (I choose not to use the wizard) you can then choose tables as in access. You can query from access tables or another excel workbook or several other data sources. I use it all the time.

You could use "Find" from the Edit menu, if I understand your question correctly.
