Hello! My little douberman can stop thinking about my black poodle. He wants to be with her, but we don't want him with her since we don't want her pregnant. How do I distract him from her?? Remedies??

Simple. Get them both fixed.

If you have an intact male doberman and a female poodle who is in heat there is nothing you are going to do to distract the male. A male do will do almost anything to get at a female in heat. That is nature.
If you are not wanting to breed these dogs and that would be really ulgy puppys get them neutered and or spayed for their health and for you sanity.

Why want to do something about the poor male? Do something about the female. I don't know in your country-but here we can take her to the vet to get an injection(when it is still in the beginning- say 2-3 days still) to stop it. Or in the future-keep record and give her the pill- get it at your vet. (Yes -for dogs-).

Meantime- I agree- take the male someplace else-he will jump through the window to get to her, (talking of experience with my pit bull). It does not cost much to fix her though, other biggg dogs will come to her as well, they smell it for miles. You will do her a favor. You can do something about your male- but not the whole neighborhoods dogs !!!!

Your male is going crazy. You cannot have 2 intact dogs in the house together. You need to fix one or the other. If not, the female should be moved to another location while in heat or the male should be. It's totally unfair to expect the dogs not to go with their instincts.

Wow this question sure comes up quit a bit here.

Good luck! People really need to think before they get male and female critters and do not think they need to get them fixed.
Hopefully you wont have to much damage (before I got a female fixed a male tore a hole in our shops wall to get to her. The same male dog tried to put a hole in another spot in another wall of the shop and did something to cause flooding) cause by the fact she is in heat......
If there are other males dogs you live by expect visiters...they seam to be able to smell a female in heat from a long ways off.

Yes, it is as easy as getting her spayed and getting him neutered. It is actually good for them. It will make them healthier and happier animals. Less chance of cancer for males and females and no chance of an unwanted pregnancy. Please think about the 10 million plus animals that are killed each year in shelters because are not enough homes for them. Then think about all the strays who die from cold, or starvation or human cruelty. Please just read about it. It is the most Humane and responsible thing you can do as a pet owner.

Take him to a doggy house of ill repute. Fork over the Purina and let him go!!!!
Other than that your gonna have to get one dog fixed.

When the female is in heat you need to put the male somewhere else - with a friend, in a kennel. Otherwise you can let them be friends. It's pretty obvious when she goes into heat.
