Nah, she's just fine. Its an annoying show but has good messages for kids. Let her watch, she'll get sick of it when she's ready.

I think Barney is okay until about 7, some of the values as well as the educational part of it are good for kids who are in early elementry school, colors, shapes, counting etc. As for Teletubbies though, that does need to end. They are not even speaking english, and if it is, then they are very hard to understand so if she develops a speech problem it is because of that! Teletubbies just stand there and tell their own names and talk in a strange language, and teach absolutely nothing. I'd be more concerned about that than Barney. However, I do see where you think Barney has become more juvinille, especially now that in most episodes it does not have the kids teaching and singing, but rather the four big dinosours, it is harder to think it's okay for your older child to watch.

Honestly, I don't think it's bad that she's still watching Barney. A lot of 5-year-olds are watching Hannah Montana and learning to act like teenagers because of it. A 5-year-old should still be watching shows meant for children...not the shows for tweens and teenagers.

I would let her watch Barney if she wants!I think the movies say from 2-8,but if you look at it this way,its better having kids likely kiddie things later than having babies earlier!I know that's a long time away, but I played with Barbies until I was 14,I didn't have a baby until 22 after getting married! My sister on the other hand was so eager to grow up and had a baby at 15.So just let her grow up at her own time!

It is not beneath her age level. Different things interest different children. My 7 and 6 yr olds enjoy watching Baby Einstein with my 1 yr old. They still watch Barney too. Barney is a wonderful educational show. It teaches manners, sharing and many other things. If you don't like her watching it, just don't make it available. Let her watch Nick Jr. or Disney.

not sure what the age limit is....but she is still a little girl..i don't think shes too old for it...let her watch it let her stay a little girl as long as her little heart desires....it's better she wants to watch barney..then wear makeup and nail polish!!! plus most of the kids on that show are older then 5 so i don't see how shes too big to watch it...and if she is in fact a little underneath her age level that's okay too at least when she's 13 or 14 she will still want to play with her dolls instead of having babies.....

I am 67 and I watch Barney and the Ball Machine with my 20 month old grandson. So I guess about 18 months to 100 years old would be appropriate. Oh, by the way, "balls are the greatest toys of all". How do I know, Barney said it!

My daughters are 2, 5 and 7... We watch shows like Dragon Tales, Blues Clues, Barney, Dora, Diego... My 5 and year old love Zoomafoo (Pbs Kids Sprout). I don't let them watch too many shows. For now these provide plenty of interest for them and are age appropriate.

Well, aren't the kids ON Barney supposed to be in Kindergarten?
Tubbies is pretty "baby" for her age though.
My daughter will be 6 in March. She likes Little Einsteins, Higglytown Heros, Charlie & Lola, Curious George, Cyberchase, Arthur, Clifford, Maya & Miguel...etc.
Hope that helps!

When she is ready to stop watching it she will. I'd much rather have a 5 1/2 yr old watching Barney then Spongbob or other cartoons that are on Nick. To you yes it is juvenile but to her its entertainment and believe it or not that stupid purple dino does teach lessons.

Barney is great for kids in Kindergarten. If you are tired of the dreaded purple dinosaur, you may be able to steer her to something else.
Try Hi-5, they are a singing/dancing group that my daughter loves. They have a show on TLC and perform little skits between numbers. Very cute and lots of fun. Here is their web site.
