375 days. (Genesis 7-8). The rain was 40 days and 40 nights. But 7 days before that God's command Noah to enter the ark, the flood was 150 days, the ark was rested on the mount Ararat on 7 days of the 7th month. The waters decreased on the 10th month, Noah sent the dove 40 days after that. But the dove returned to the ark. Noah stayed 7 more days after that, and sent another dove. the dove returned with olive branch. Noah stayed another 7 days before he sent another dove, the last one didn't returned, means the dove found place for rest. NOAH (PBUH) AND THE FLOOD

The Biblical description of the flood in Genesis chapter 6, 7 and 8 indicates that the deluge was universal and it destroyed every living thing on earth, except those present with Noah (pbuh) in the ark. The description suggests that the event took place 1656 years after the creation of Adam (pbuh) or 292 years before the birth of Abraham, at a time when Noah (pbuh) was 600 years old. Thus the flood may have occurred in the 21st or 22nd Century B.C.

This story of the flood, as given in the Bible, contradicts scientific evidence from archaelogical sources which indicate that the eleventh dynasty in Egypt and the third dynasty in Babylonia were in existence without any break in civilisation and in a manner totally unaffected by any major calamity which may have occurred in the 21st century B.C. This contradicts the Biblical story that the whole world had been immersed in the flood water. In contrast to this, the Qur’anic presentation of the story of Noah and the flood does not conflict with scientific evidence or archaeological data; firstly, the Qur’an does not indicate any specific date or year of the occurance of that event, and secondly, according to the Qur’an the flood was not a universal phenomenon which destroyed complete life on earth. In fact the Qur’an specifically mentions that the flood was a localised event only involving the people of Noah.

The waters came on the 17th day of the 2nd month and the doors were opened a year later on the 27th of the second month. The years were 360 days as the months were 30 days. This would seem to show 370 days but we are told that they entered the ark and the door was shut days BEFORE the waters came. They entered the ark and it rained on the 7th day. Thus they were in the ark for 376 days.

It depends which verses of the myth you read;

How long did the flood last?
40 days according to Genesis 7:17 , 150 days according to Genesis 7:24

Then there is the question of when this 600 year old drunkard actually went into the ark; 7 days before the flood began according to Genesis 7:7-10 , on the day of the flood according to Genesis 7:11-13

How long was the ark afloat for? about 7 months according to Genesis 7:11-13 , at least 10 months according to Genesis 8:5

No contradictions in the bible, eh?

In the ark remained in God's time, from 600/02/17 to 601/02/27 of Noah’s life. Foods taken by Noah, surely would not be enough to keep them for so long time. ● Genesis 7:11 » In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. ● Genesis 8:14 » And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dry.

A total of 371 days. It did rain 40 days and 40 nights, however The earth was too flooded for him to disembark immediately. That's why he sent out the dove, to see if there was dry land anywhere.
Noah and his family entered the ark in the 600th year of Noah’s life, the 2nd month (October-November), the 17th day. (Ge 7:11) One year later (a year consisting of 360 days) was the 17th day, 2nd month, 601st year. Ten days after that would be the 27th day of the 2nd month, when they came out; a total of 370 days, or parts of 371 separate days, spent in the ark. (Ge 8:13, 14) In the log that Noah kept, it appears he used months of 30 days each, 12 of them equaling 360 days. In this way he avoided all the complicated fractions involved had he used strictly lunar months consisting of slightly more than 29 1/2 days. That such calculations were used in the account is evident from the fact that a five-month period consisted of 150 days.—Ge 7:11, 24; 8:3, 4.

40 days refers to the rain only! Noah was in the ark longer due to having to wait on the water disappearing so they could come out. Study the story and you can work it out yourself - its a good study.

You would have to go to Genesis and figure out the days as best you can.

Noah closed himself and his family inside the ark for a short time (many say a week) before the rains started.

It rained for 40 days and nights.

Then after the rain stopped, there was a long period of time that the ark simply floated. How long that this took for the waters to abate is unknow and left to much speculation.

After the waters started to recede, they continued to wait until the ground was dry enough to walk on and continued to wait until God told them they could leave.

As I noted earlier, it is not known for sure, but most think they were on the ark for about one year total.

He entered the ark on the 7th day of the 2nd month when he was 600 years old. He left the ark on the 1st day of the 1st month of his 601 year. That would be a little less than a year. If I figured right thats about 327 days.

God bless,
Stanbo

The story says that it rained for 40 days and 40 nights with enough water to cover all the lands. All that water didnt just go away over night so 40 days would be incorrect. I recall something about sailing for three hundred and something days before making landfall but can't remember exactly.
