My aunt had a basketball sized tumor removed from her ovary last week and it was diagnosed as cancer. A whole hysterectomy was done. She is waiting on the biopsies of her other organs before she starts chemo treatment. Her husband lost his job in July, this job was what provided my aunt her benefits. She has no medical benefits and owes alot of money for the surgery she had and treatments to come. Does anyone know where we could apply for funding or money for cancer treatments??? Does anyone have access to information regarding ovarian cancer, that could be of some help? Please, I do not want them to lose their housing or go without eating because of her illness. We live in the Dallas metroplex area. Thank you and God bless

Call the American Cancer Society, and they will give you all places she can go to in your area for help. Check out the Mayo clinic website on ovarian cancer and eyesontheprize.org. Apply for help from modestneeds.org, too. You should contact the Social Security office and Dept of Social Services re disability payments, food stamps, Medicare, and Medicaid.

She can apply for SSI. Also, have her ask to speak with a social worker at the hospital. They should know what groups are in your area that can help.
