I need to use a drill to hand some curtain brackets. I haven't the faintest idea how to do this. Can anyone tell me how? Thanks

Using a power drill is easy to do and it helps you to make accurate holes in different materials with ease.

First, look at the curtain bracket installation instructions to find out what size hole you need to drill. If the brackets don't come with instruction match the size of the screw to the size of a drill bit (the corkscrew like metal rod that fits into the nose of the power drill). Let's say the size you need is 1/16" inch. Next, set aside the drill bit and the screws. For this step you will need a measuring tape, a laser level (if you have one - if not a ruler will do) and a pencil. Next measure and mark where you need the brackets for the curtains to be placed. Mark off with your pencil where the holes are to be drilled (it is easiest to trace the inside of the bracket holes while you are holding the bracket in place). Next you will need to secure the drill bit to the nose of the the powerdrill. There are two popular fastening methods - the key and the hand crank. If your drill locks the drill bit in with a key (an "L" shaped piece of metal with a gear on the end) you will need to place the gear end in the hole just above where the drill bit goes in. First spin the key counter clockwise to open the nose just enough to fit the drill bit in then spin it counter clock wise to tigheten it. If you have a hand crank drill then the method is the same you just use your hand to twist the nose to loosen and tighten. Make sure the drill bit is secure and tight by pulling the drill trigger once (away from your face). If the drill bit stays secure then it is in. Next, wear safety goggles or glasses for this step. Holding the drill at a right angle to the wall slowly pull the drill trigger to start your hole. Then once you are in the wall about 1/8" hold the trigger down to drill in all the way. Right next to the trigger is a forward and reverse button - once you have drilled your hole you will need to press the button to get the bit to go in reverse and pull out of the wall. That's it - drill the rest of your holes and then fasten your bracket's to the wall.

Helpful Hints - Always wear some type of safety goggles. There will be some drywall dust that comes out of the wall. Also, make sure that you are not drilling into electrical wires or pipes by checking where sockets and faucets and drains are located (if you are doing drilling near a window sash you don't have to worry about this) Finally, if you are going to be hanging heavy weight drapes you will need to tap plastic anchors (comes with the brackets and screws of your curtain rods) into the holes you just drilled followed by the bracket.

Hope this Helps!

Put the right sixe drill bit in the drill, slightly smaller than the screws you will be using. Put the tip of the drill bit on your mark where the hole will go and slightly squeeze the trigger with slight pressure let the drill do it's thing and make a hole about 3/4 of an inch. Keep the drill going to pull out of the hole also.

Regulated Instructions

Step 1: Predrill

Predrilling with a boring tool before utilizing a screw or nail to join parts together makes the procedure less demanding and keeps the wood from part.

Step 2: Select the bit

Pick the proper sort and size bit for your material and clasp. For screws, pick a bit that matches the internal measurement of the strung part, not the distance across of the strings. For nails, utilize a bit that is somewhat littler in width than the shank.

Step 3: Measure and imprint

To make an inside point for pre-boring, measure and imprint a short line from one side and a short line from one end of the workpiece. The convergence of these lines denote the inside point.

Step 4: Insert the bit

Place the bit completely situated in the toss—the piece of the drill that holds a bit set up. Fix the toss totally, verifying the bit is focused. Turn the drill/driver's setting to bore (a symbol that resembles a boring tool).

Step 5: Drill the gap

Set the drill bearing catch to pivot to one side, and hold the drill with your pointer on the trigger. Adjust the drill opposite to the surface, utilizing a velocity square as an aide. Begin gradually by delicately pulling the trigger, and after that pressing harder to quicke.

Heres a site that has some info. Maybe it will help you with some of the terms mentioned. I think a step by step guide is great. Maybe this site also has a detailed description on the parts. Cause some of the terms the other guys told you, I really had no clue what they even were. So maybe this will help. Good luck. Its not that hard.

reverse phone number search compiles hundreds of millions of phone book records to help locate the owner's name, location, time zone, email and other public information.

Use a reverse phone lookup to:
Get the identity of an unknown caller.
Identify an area code.
Recall the name of a person whose number you wrote down.
Identify an unfamiliar phone number that shows up on your bill.
