i wanted to uninstall my wireless mouse because my computer stop recognizing it. so when i uninstalled the software and switched back to the original mouse it stopped working. (I lost the software for the Wireless mouse)

i can't do anything because I'm at the welcome screen. any mouse i use doesn't work.

another question: would booting from the windows Xp disk fix the problem?

restart the pc it should pick up the wired mouse then go to the wireless mouse manufacturers website and download the drivers

Go to your "control panel" click add new hardware. The system should guide you though installing a mouse and other hardware without having the software that originally came with the mouse.

Get a better mouse, and get an installer disc. A good software and hardware store should get you the help you want.

Anyway, go to www.driverguide.com and see if you can find a generic mouse driver, if not, I recommend what the other guy said, get a new mouse :P.

or after restarting pc download its driver from net
