I have heard that if you are single and living in a flat by yourself you can get a reduction on council tax. Is this true and how do I apply for it.

Apply to your council tax section at the local council. Just write and tell them you live alone and they will send the forms for you to apply for the reduction xx

yes you do you get 25% just go to the council office and ask for a single occupancy council tax form or look on the back of one of your bills there should be something about it on there, that's how i found out about it

Yes, you can ask for 25% reduction. You can simply give them a ring and let them know. If my memory serves me well, in my case they sent me a form when I moved into my new house asking me whether I was sharing or not.
