how do you use hair sticks?

i think using them correctly will create a real elegant look, but so far the sites i've visited aren't clear enough. i think my hair's long enough, but it's quite thick.
oh, i don't want a french twist cos my hair's not long enough for that ): a simple nice knot will suffice. i simply cannot get the stick to stay secure in my head!

if u do it right u can twist your hair and hold it up and curl it kinda or fold in half ish then take the stick andget some hair and pull it to the other side and stick it in
or just tie into a bun and stick it in the middle

well put the stick exactly in the middle and cross the one exactly across from it so it will be sucure.
