It's just because I know a whole load of people that were Baptised when they were kid's. They are now just living the run of the mill type of lives eg fornicating, drunkeness and wild partying!

I dont see any back up in scripture creating any kind of safe picture for these people. I have read that these kind of unrepented sins will land you in Hell.

When someone is truely Born Again, or has experienced the real saving power of Christ, the life would have to change. I know this from experience.

Christ also said 'by their fruit you will know them'

There is no way that baptism in child hood, will cover a life of unrepented sin.

Baptism alone will not save you

That is a correct assumption, as being baptized at birth or as a child gives false hope of salvation. Only as you are able to read, comprehend and understand what the God's word the bible teaches, and then repent, and turn away from the way you were. All humans are sinners and need God's forgiveness. Before studying the Bible, you did not know what God's will was. So how can you have lived in harmony with his will. Repentance must be followed by conversion or turning around. These are the steps you must take before dedicating yourself to Jehovah God. When you do this, you are vowing to give him exclusive devotion(Deuteronomy 6:15) It is the Baptism itself that publicly identifies you as a person who has made a dedication to God.
Baptism does not guarantee salvation. The apostle Paul wrote:"Keep working out your own salvation with fear and trembling" ( Philippians 2:12) So, once saved, does not mean saved for always. A person has to obey God's commandments, follow his example, Jesus Christ, and give exclusive devotion and worship to the True God, Jehovah. Then you can hope for salvation.

Baptism is an outward picture of an inward action. If nothing happened on the inside, then just because you are baptised doesn't fool God. He knows nothing happened. Many people confuse religion with salvation. They think rules and doing an action (without a heart change) will earn them the right to go to heavan. Others fel that if all is forgiven at a honest "i'm sorry" then why not live it up while they can. It is a complex theology dicussion - bottomline is they are missing out on a life of faith - of learning to trust God though the ups and downs of life. It is not always fun, but we have the confidence that Jer 29:11 says: 'The plans I have for you are to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope. '
So - the answer to your question is missinformation makes a person think that we are saved through baptism.

Stop and think about something you know to be true. Say for example that the letter a looks like this"A". NOw let's say that you were taught wrong, and that a really looks like this "b". You will either believe you whole like the wrong thing, or you will at some point question why you belive what you believe. At that point is when the Holy Spirit can lead you to salvation. Faith is the belive in things unseen -

Do not condim those who are missinformed. Pray for them, be friendly to them, and maybe one day an oppertunity for a conversation of what is true will spark change in their lives.

Baptism is the point when someone who believes comes "into Christ" and "into His death". At baptism, you "rise to walk in newness of life", or you are "born again" (Romans 6:3-4, Gal. 3:27, Col. 2:12, John 3:3-5).

But some who have come into that newness of life, do not continue in that life. 2 Peter 2:22 describes it as a sow that has been washed and returns to the mud, or a dog that has thrown up to remove sour food from its belly and then returns to eat his own vomit. (Sorry about this being disgusting, but returning to a life of sin is even worse.)

We must not only come "into Christ", but we must remain faithful in that condition (Rev. 2:10, 1 John 1:7).

Baptism is where one steps into the relationship with Christ, it is not the total, nor the end, of that journey.

How can we believe this? Because the Bible says so!

Why be so hung up on technicalities?

What makes people think they are saved by anything? No one has ever managed to convince me that their religious denomination, and it's guidelines, is THE correct one. There's no way of knowing. Anyone who claims to have the right formula for being "saved" is delusional. If there were an exact way to go about life, God would have made that clear. He didn't, so why do people think we're supposed to be able to find the "correct" path out of all the different ones presented to us? It's so illogical it just makes me angry.

And I what's the problem with drinking, partying and sex? They aren't hurting anyone and I find it difficult to believe that God (if he even exists) would really care. Now you're trying to impose a certain personality type on religion. People can have faith whatever their preferred leisure activities might be. Most likely whoever told you these activities will land you in hell had some sort of agenda.

Religion is man-made. There is no need to take anything literally, or take someone else's word for it when they tell you what God said. Have your own relationship with him. I'm guessing what these kids you speak of are doing. Either that or their parents baptised them and they have chosen not to be religious themselves.

After you have made your dedication to God, you should be baptized. (Matthew 28:19, 20) Baptism lets everyone know that you have dedicated yourself to Jehovah. So baptism is only for those who are old enough to make a decision to serve God. When a person is baptized, his whole body should be put under the water momentarily.*—Mark 1:9, 10; Acts 8:36.

After you have made a dedication, Jehovah will expect you to live up to your promise. (Psalm 50:14; Ecclesiastes 5:4, 5) The Devil will try to stop you from serving Jehovah. (1 Peter 5:8) But draw close to God in prayer. (Philippians 4:6, 7) Study his Word each day. (Psalm 1:1-3) Stick close to the congregation. (Hebrews 13:17) By doing all of this, you will gain the strength to stay faithful to God. For all eternity you thus can do the things that God requires of you!

Oh...I guess I'd have to say: "Because Jesus, St. Peter and St. Paul all said so". Good enough for them - good enough for me.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of WATER and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

1 Peter 3:21 The like figure whereunto even BAPTISM doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

Romans 6:3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were BAPTIZED into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through BAPTISM into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Maybe there's some kind of cultural conditioning happening. If you don't know anything different then how are you to behave. If you look up the website evilbible.com then you will find out that evrything in the book isn't whiter than white,oh by the way it's not a satanic bible or anything like that it is purely a study of the bible and makes you wonder who is God. Afterall ordering moses to kill all first borns and make the mothers slaves is very questionable but qoute after qoute its unbelievable but true.

Well No, the baptism of children does not count, because the bible says that "repenting of their sins they were baptized" Which means people acknowledge their sins in order to change their lives and devote it to Christ. Baptism alone will not save you if you continue to sin, even as an adult, even if you are baptized knowing what you are doing, if you continue to sin, thats not going to save you.

I agree that being baptisied as a child will not save you for ever.
Neither will being baptized as an adault save you from future sins.

Neither will those who are Born Again be saved from their future sins.

We all need to daily repent of all our besetting sins.

The Bible shows that people can lose their salvation. Take a look at these scriptures.

He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white rainment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life,... Revelation 3:5

...He that endureth to the end shall be saved. Matthew 10:22

And the Lord said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book. Exodus 32:33

When the righteous turneth from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, he shall even die thereby.
But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby. Ezekiel 34:18-19

And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life,... Revelation 22:19

I've read the bible and prayed and asked God about this and this is my answer to your question. A child does not choose which religion (s)he wants to follow. They don't know anything at that time. Their are just God's innocent little souls. Who ever has the opportunity, should teach them about the love of God from their young age so that they can choose for themselves when they have the maturity to do so.

So yes, the people that believe they are saved because they were baptised when they were born, well, they aren't. That's the truth about it. When you get the opportunity, introduce them to the Gospel.

Jesus loves you.
