life fitness, hammer strength, and icarian weight stacks at the gym. my goal is to maintain the muscle mass i have. i do make some gains but very slowly as i am only lifting one day a week. i do bench, military, curls, tris all for 3 or 4 sets.

also, i do lats, abs, lower back, leg curls, reverse leg curls, pec deck and dips for 1 set of each.

how many days should i take off after doing a workout like this before doing a cardio workout. is it enough to skip one day after this lifting workout before doing cardio?

In my experience, after an extremely strenuous workout, the answer is for upper body it takes a full day and lower body two days to heal before doing another upper or lower body routine. So, for cardio, I'm assuming you jog or do an elliptical... something that mainly involves your legs. Because your above workout is so upper body focused (with hardly any curls), I think you can safely skip a day and do cardio. If your cardio involves more upper body, thats ok too because it should only take a day to recover those muscles anyways.

Regardless, over time the more frequently you work out the quicker you will be able to recover, so you might be able to do cardio the next. Stick with the one skip day for now. Good Luck!.

When I used to lift three days a week, I always started my workout with 30 minutes on a stepper as a warm-up

I'm a 42 year old male who does weight training on MWF, and cardio on T-TH. I don't have any problems with recuperation. You "know" your body better than anyone else. If your muscles are sore, then you need more rest. If they're not, go for it!
