OR WHILE TRAVELING ON PLANE, OR IN MY CAR, YOU KNOW PLACES LIKE THAT?

definitely. it's actually the "in" thing these days. I have seen people carrying these huge suitcases around to starbucks and plopping them down on the table, setting up their huge computer and monitor, plugging everything in, even getting their laser printer ready. the problem is that there is no place to put your coffee. In the car you might have a problem with getting electricity. but I suggest you invest in a 100 mile long electrical cord to solve that problem. in the plane you can tap into their main electrical supply, which will divert all the power from the engine into your computer. you will also have to buy an extra ticket for your desktop computer to sit in the seat next to you, so it might actually be cheaper to buy a laptop.

I'm sure that you could..

In a coffee shop, you'd need to bring a good power strip, to power all of your hardware, and a WiFi card.

In your car, you'd need a power inverter (it changes AC power to DC), plug a power strip into it, and you'd be "good to go," like the Taco Bell commercial. You'd also need a WiFi card for this too, so you could park in front of someone's house and get online.

On a plane, it would be more difficult, with security now a days, i doubt you'd be able to get it on the plane, even if you were able to get it past security, you'd have to bring a car battery with you, hook it up to a power inverter, and a power strip, and even then, i doubt you'd have enough juice to last you the entire trip. Plus lugging it around would suck. Plus planes don't have WiFi usually, not that i've ever heard of anyway, so you wouldn't really be able to get online up there.

I'd probably just sell the desktop, save up a couple hundred, and buy a laptop on ebay and join the laptop sensation generation.

Any place with a wireless connection that has access to the public you can use. Some coffee shops require you to pay hourly for the service.

Your laptop will need a Wi-Fi card to be able to do this.

Yes! Many coffee shops, some restraunts, and a few book stores allow you to use their wireless internet connection. Some schools, airports, and businesses also have wireless connections that do not have a key. When my husband gets into a bind and needs to use internet, he turns on his wifii finder and drives around - many people who install their own wireless network in their homes or business either do not know how to make it privatly protected, or don't care. You can often get 2 or 3 places to surf the web on any given street in a middle income neighboorhood.

Good luck - and happy surfing!

yeah of course, as long as you have a internet connector (if you wanna use internet) you can rent one on a plane, probably not a good idea whilst driving, just be careful not to spill coffee all over your laptop

good luck!

Yes, you can use them in most coffeeshops, without sound, of course. Yes to the other places, too, but as long as you're not driving while you're using your laptop, you should be fine.
