If you or someone you know have been a victim to this illness, did you or the person you know, get help? I just watched this show on HBO called "Thin" and it's very sad, how the girls on that documentary are thin, but still convinced that they are fat.

yes i have been batteling this illness for over 6 years and it is a difficult one. i have been in and out of inpatient treatment and outpatient treatment. feeling you are fat is a symptom of it but it is so much more. remember though that everyone's experience with it is different. so many people assume that just because they have known a person with it or have gone threw it themself that they know everything about the disorder. this is not true. i have seen so many people with it and every single person is different. i wont even pretend to know everything about it. feel free to ask me if you have any questions.

I was down to 115 pounds VERY thin and was convinced I was HUGE...anyway, the doctor threatened to hospitalize me and put me on a special diet and pills to help me eat. Long story short...that was 15 years ago and I am now a very steady 147 pounds. Funny, I don't perceive myself as being fat anymore though - even with the added weight. It is weird how your mind works.

It is sad. Anorexia is an illness of the mind and it takes a lot of work before a person can even begin to think about recovery.
