I have a 7 year old that is accident prone(hurting himself like 6 times a day). My other kids just dont ever get hurt like he does. He has never been seriously injured, but is always bumping his head, or hitting his foot on something, and the list goes on. He just is oblivious to everything around him.
Pays no attention. Is there anyone else who has a child who is accident prone, or has been accident prone themselves? Just curious

If your child is older or it is you that was accident prone, did you grow out of it eventually?

Most children go through these stages....They are growing and changing so fast the mind can't keep up sometimes...My kids have been there several times....I am not sure if their equilibrium if off sometimes or they simply don't pay much attention sometimes....But they go through it for a while are fine for a while and then go through it again....Crazy....But I am sure this is natural and they will be just fine.....Some days I even tease my kids about it...."What are you trying to do KILL yourself today?...lol....Darn-It that is MY job!!"...lol

I have an accident prone little sister. She's really not little because she's 14, but she's always injured. Your son is either going through a phase because he's a child or he's just clumsy.

My 8 year old daughter was the same way when she was 5-6. She was always falling, running into things, and just hurting herself. I was so worried that she was gonna break something or I would have to run to the hospital all the time. She eventually grew out of it. And although she still does more to herself than any of my other children, it has definitely toned down alot.

My niece was also accident prone to the point they sent Children and Family Services out to my sisters house. Thankfully they had everything documented and video feeds from various stores. Unfortuanetly through later testing it was found out that she had a form of autism known as Asperger's Syndrome. I would talk to your pediatrician about it and possibly catch some of his accidents on video. maybe the doctor will be able to see something on the video that you as a parent will not be able to catch.

I was accident prone as a child, to the point of lots of ER trips.
However I grew out of it by the time I was in middle school.
Don't dispair it will get better. Also keep vehicle gased and ready to go for emergencys.

You should feel lucky. My daughter is so accident prone, she has broken 3 bones by the age of five! She always has cuts and bruises on her legs and arms, she just doesn't want to pay attention to what shes doing. Shes six now and hasn't grown out of it yet. I just hope its soon before our neighbors start to think we abuse her! My son isn't as bad as she is. I guess she just doesn't have good coordination. I'm sure our kids will grown out of it.

LOL My sister is very accident prone and my daughter is also a little bit accident prone.
I know what your going through.
What has helped my sister alot is playing sports. Basketball, softball, and volleyball.

I think ballet and tap have helped my daughter.

My 7 1/2 year old is clumsy as well. Somtimes they are so busy with things they don't pay attention to what there doing. I had mine tested for ADHD and vision problems. All is fine Dr says he just needs to slow done and pay attention to his surroundings.

I have a little cousin like that, but don't worry it's just apart of being a child, bumps on head, scratch's on his legs and knees, believe me he'll grow out of it.

Has he ever had his eyes and or hearing checked? It could be possible that he doesn't see or hear 100% and misses cues that warn others that trouble is coming.
