A debit card is like a credit card, instead of charging it to credit, it just takes money straight from your bank account! And yes if you have a bank account you should get one! Sometimes, you can get the credit/debit card.. which is a credit and a debit card in one...... and when you purchase something they'll ask you debit or credit... and you choose! You have to have good credit to qualify for the credit card though!!! Good luck!

It is a card that comes directly out of your bank account. It gives the convenience of a credit card, but knowing the money is already there. Usually banks offer them now instead of ATM cards.

It is a card that acts like a checkbook. When you use it it withdraws the money from your checking / savings account. It is not a credit card so once your account has $0 in it...your card also has $0 available.

Here is some additional info. Hope this helps.

a debit card is like an electronic check. except its just a card and you dont have to fill anything out. as soon as you purchase anything it takes the money straight from your account. its much better than a credit card. i have one. and i would reccommed it.

yes - it takes money out of your account AT THE TIME OF USE and transfers it to another account IN REALTIME as opposed to a credit card where you are borrowing the money
