Jesus went to the cross knowing two things, 1. That the crucifiers broke the legs of those on the cross to speed up their dying and 2. That scripture said of the promised savior that no bone would be broken. I think that accounts for a lot of his agony during his passion in the garden. Any thoughts?

Jesus went through what is called agony, this word comes from the Greek and Latin as `Agonia` which literally means a contest or battle between two combatants, so Jesus had a titanic struggle with satan in the garden of olives, which was so intense that He sweated profusely and mingled with His sweat was blood.
medical evidence knows that this is an actual occurrence that happens to a person under enormous stress, the tiny capillaries just under the skin burst and blood is then mixed in the perspiration of the sufferer.
you can imagine how cruelly the evil one taunted Jesus, you cannot save the world and all this is for nothing etc, and on top of all this extreme mental anguish was the knowledge that there would be those that would refuse His sacrifice and be lost.
of course there was much, much more to the agony of Christ than this, but I do not think that He was too concerned about the Roman method of breaking the legs of the crucified, we are told in the Gospels that Jesus gave up His spirit at the appointed time and therefore died before the Romans could do this.

That was probably a portion of it. Jesus, who by the way knows all as he is God, the Word made Flesh, not only knew of how the Crucifixion would go, but also the horrible flogging that he would endure, the mocking, the further beating and mostly, the fact that for a moments time, he would take the sin of the world on himself and be separated from the father for that moment, hence the reason he cries out why have you forsaken me. That was a moment that was all to painful and felt like eternity. Jesus prayed in the garden to the father for strength to endure what he was going to go through. The blood he sweated is medically true and a reaction in the body that happens when one is under tremendous stress and anxiety.

So, yes, he knew, yet he loved us all so much that he chose to die a horrible and painful death so that he could defeat it and give us a new relationship and eternal life with him. Now that's LOVE!

The agony in the garden was not about His physical suffering. He knew that it was going to be agonising, but He also knew that it would not be for long. What Jesus was struggling with was the prospect of being cut off from the Father. He and the Father were one and had been for all eternity. It was like being wrenched apart in a way far more terrible than physical suffering. There was that terrible cry from the cross: "My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?", which was a quotation from Psalm 22, a psalm of utter despondency which nevertheless ended in triumph.

I don't think that Jesus would have been preoccupied with the breaking of bones. He would know that the prophecies of the Word of God would be fulfilled. When you know something you don't fret about it. When did Jesus ever worry? Not then, not ever. But He did dread the ordeal ahead of Him, when He and the Father would be separated for the first time ever.

That was the LEAST of His troubles. In His flesh, He had no desire to die, and even less to be tortured for hours before. Not to mention the prospect of having the blame for every sin ever committed being placed on His shoulders. He was about to be exposed to every form of torture known, and He knew it. THAT is what had Him sweating blood.
