unequally yoked, is speaking of marriage.
Literally: the Bible uses beasts of burden as an example. If a donkey and an ox are yoked together (which God forbid the people of Israel to do in Deuteronomy 22:10), the yoke will weigh heavily on one animal while choking the other, or as the animal with the longer stride moves ahead it will painfully drag the other along by the neck! They would not be able to pull smoothly or painlessly together and little work would get done. But when two animals of approximately the same size and weight are yoked together, they pull the plow smoothly, helping each other, and work is accomplished.
Spiritually: becoming attached to a person who does not share your faith in Jesus Christ as Savior can be just as painful and counterproductive as the illustration of the unequally yoked animals. Whether attached financially (as in a business partnership) or emotionally (as a spouse), you are connected to someone who cannot "pull" equally with you in life.

There is nothing wrong with talking to people who are sinners as long as you do not allow them to influence your life. Jesus was able to eat and drink with sinners because he was God almighty and wanted to save them. To be equally yoke with someone is to be level with them. How can you talk about being holy when you're living unholy life yourself. We as christian can not be seen doing the same thing as an unholy person would do, that would make us just like them.
So you should interpret this verse as being an influence in a non-believers life with the help of God without being the same as them(to become an unbeliever).
I hope this answers your question

It actually says "unequally" yoked. The NIV says "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers." The key is that yoked indicates much more than simply spending time with. Yes, Jesus spent time with sinners, but for the purpose of introducing himself and leading them to a relationship that would make them "believers" and bring forgiveness for their sins. For us, to be unequally yoked would be to take as a spouse one who does not believe. Yoked is not a word used much in our language, so that is where the confusion comes from. The other thing to remember is, we are not Jesus.

Jesus came into the world to save mankind. So it sounds to me if you are saving fallen man you would go to fallen man. Christians are instructed not to be married to someone who is not of the same belief. It would be like riding in a canoe with two people and only one rowing it. Not such a great way to go through life. It is better for two, especially in marriage to work together. Also, Jesus was able to resist temptation that man just cannot seem to do at all times. How can light enjoy the darkness.

Because He loved to sin like people or because it was a way for Him to approach them??? If He stayed at the temple would all these people come & know him & get saved??? But for you do you drink for a good reason? Of course there no good reason. You cannot pretend that you are strong enough to be yoked with the world thinking that you have strong shield against sin. That is why we are all called to watch out & keep ourselves away of snares! Jesus didn;t commit a sin. As a God it was His message to the needy, to the neglected, to the low spirit: I love you & I am near , come to me

He also said to be in the world but not of the world. it's same thing.
Being yoked with someone is having a close relationship with him/her. whether that be marriage/dating/ or your best friend. we are to yoke ourselves together with other believers so we can grow in the Word. Jesus was with the sinners yes, but he didn't marry them or stay with them longer than He needed to. we can be with and talk to non-Christians, but don't get into any kind of serious relationship with them.

I always interpreted the being unequally yoked part as meaning that it was wrong and unhealthy for a christian to marry someone who does not share their love and faith in Christ. It makes perfect sense. I wouldn't be happy married to someone who I couldn't experience that with.

this is talking about in your house do not marry a woman who does not love the Lord our God this will bring separation in your house and spirit as in marriage the two flesh come together as one if your wife does not love the Lord but the world this will keep you from truly being one with her.
this does not mean do not have anything to do with the world we are to lead as many of the lost to Christ as we can Yes Jesus is a friend to the sinner i thank God for that.
For me and my house we shall serve the Lord

Excellent question :) Be not yolked with unbelievers (which is what the passage means) is binding with them, dating/marrying them. It is not really a sin to do so, but it is a very HARD relationship. Ask any woman (me) or man who became a believer first while married. It causes a lot of stress and even will shake one's faith. You can be friends with unbelievers, you can even be best friends with them, you can talk to them, hang out with them (witness to them)
