hi

It is important to understand the first Covenant and the Second Covenant. That is The first Covenant - Old Testament was between God and Abraham and his descendants. From here we see God dwelling in a particular area. With Moses he Was on Mount Sinai and later in the Tent that was built as a temple with 3 courts. The outer court, the inner court and the holy of holies. It is important to note that the Temple was used as a significant symbol of God's presence among his people.

Everything in the temple was sacred/holy and if you read 2chronicles and also Ezra, Nehemiah you will see the story of Israel going into exile and the destruction of the temple of Solomon and the carrying away of the Temple gold, silver cups & bowlss that King Belshazzaer of Bablylon gave orders that all his visitors should drink from them Daniel5:1-29.

This action was an abormination to God and He was punished for this. This goes to show that God's presence was there in the Temple and all that is dedicated to him belongs to Him. It also shows that God is not limited to one geographical area or architectural structure. The cups were not in the temple but were dedicated to Him thus His presence was with them, He claimed ownership of the same.

Remember when the Capture of the Covenant Box by the Philistines1samuel 4,5 & 6. The Covenant Box represented the Glory of the Lord whether it was within the temple or out wide the temple. When the Philistines placed the covenant box in their god Dagon's temple they found the statue of Dagon fallen, and everywhere it went God's presence was seen and felt.

In the new testament If you read the verses preceding Acts7:48, you will notice that Stephen speeks to the people after the day of pentecost. the Holy Spirit the helper has come, the one promised by Jesus. He has come to comfort, teach, guide the believer on the ways of Jesus Christ. He speaks of the Temple of old that is the building representing God's presence among the people, but God cannot be contained in one area, He is the Almighty One, ever present, all powerfull all knowing. Paul says that the body is the temple of the Holy spirit. 1Cor3:18, Eph21:1-22 all speaks of the Christian's body as a temple figuratively.

There are buildings that are dedicated to God for His people to come and worship him together,God does dwell in the where there is praise for Him.
As we have seen in Ezra, anything that is dedicated to God belongs to him and his presense is with it be it an object or a person.

In the new testament we have seen Jesus say that the kingdom of God is among the beliver, Jesus promised that where 2 or three are gathered in His name He is there with them, He promised that He is with us always. It is my opinion therefore that God dwells among He people, He is not confined by buildings, geography or time. He is only a prayer away.

Note always read the bible in reference with other books within the bible to get a clear piture of each topic you are reading or researching on

He lives among his people and not confined!

In the days of the Isrealites when they were his chosen people he told them to place the ark of the covenant in the most holy of the temple and only the high priest could enter without being killed.....today Jehovah is not in man made temples but resides in heaven with his son Christ Jesus at his right hand.

Rev 16:17: " And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven from the throne".
Rev 11:19: "And the temple of God was opened in heaven"...
There are other such references but I think, God is omnipresent, but might sit on the throne to judge as it says in Rev 20:11 "And I saw a great white throne and him that sat on it, Rev 20:12 "And I saw the dead, small and great stand before God"...

I would say God dwells anywhere that has been sanctified and dedicated to him, whether it be a temple or other place of worship, or even a home.

He is everywhere but wants us to be together.

Hebrews 10:24 "And let us consider one another to incite to love and fine works, 25 not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together, as some have the custom, but encouraging one another, and all the more so as YOU behold the day drawing near".
