Why not practice quietly whatever you believe in (or whatever you don't believe in) and not bother people?

The question here seems to come from a selfish isolationist perspective. I take care of me. No one should be at all concerned about me. Preaching is not done for the benefit of the preacher. It is done out of concern for the one they are preaching at.....they most often do not do it very tactfully and fail to see the harm they are doing but it is not for themselves but out of concern for the other. (How many thumbs down for this...the more I receive the more I hit the right nerve)

I know the word evangalize has some negative connotations to it, but it means to literally "spread the good word". If someone "preaches" just because they are commanded to, then they are hypocrites. People who truly love Christ want to tell you about him because they want to walk beside you in heaven, not just because they are told that is what they have to do. Spread the Good word. Don't preach. That is what my mom did when I didnt put my dirty socks in the hamper.

Because God commands us to do so. Why do people ask questions like this? In a sense they are all preaching as well, but don't want to admit it.

You're right. And I like how you managed to ask this question without being offensive. People on Yahoo! Answers who answer questions about religion either say, "GOD is LOVE!!" or "God doesn't exist, you fools!!" There's nothing in between.

They are specifically TOLD to preach by their religion. If they were told to keep it quiet and secret, they would. They are all sheep. But not us!!
