Marble is incredibly heavy and has to be cut at source before it is delivered to you. It is also incredibly expensive. I think it's about £2000 for a sink unit. If it is for a surface then think about iroko wood (doesn't stain with water). This is also expensive but not as much. If it is for walls then go with tiles. Fired Earth do some lovely ones but again they're very expensive. If you want some which are just as nice but cheaper and limited choice then try Topps Tiles or B&Q.

Go for tiles - Marble is a pig to keep looking nice in a bathroom.

Marble probably looks better to start with, but it has to be polished regularly to keep it that way. Once you get limescale building up on marble you're in real trouble (they're both made of the same stuff!).
Tiles are much easier to clean and cheaper to install.

When you consider what to use for the bath panel, I would advise that you consider how a plumber can get access to the bath when the panel has to be removed for some reason or other. People never seem to consider this, and in the past I have had to break some bath panels in an emergency.

I think tiling looks nice, personally, and is cheaper and easy to install. Your question sounds like a personal preference kind of decision!
