would not rely what the newborn needs. Are you waiting to do all the artwork as quickly as the newborn tires of doing the artwork? if so, that's large, yet it is to be a family members dogs. short haired dogs shed greater beneficial than long haired dogs. All dogs have a damp dogs smell while moist. Comes from oil glands. Get a huge, grownup dogs that's been newborn examined. Any dogs could be clever. With childrens, you want a largwe sized dogs that could look after childrens. bypass to the shelters and spot what's up for adoption.

There is no such thing as a non-shedding dog. All dogs shed, some more than others. However, look into the terrier, greyhound, schnauzer, and poodle mixes. Whether your son will enjoy a poodle mix is entirely between your family.
Look for single-coated breeds to eliminate most of the shedding. Bathe regularly (once a week, give or take), and make sure the dog is fed quality food. All of these things can contribute to a healthier coat.

I can't really tell you 'the best' as far as ratings, but I can tell you I have a 7 year old daughter and she gets along great with our inside dogs. We have two Pomeranians, a corky, and a mini-chihuaha-Pom-rat terrier mix. I'm afraid I'm rather biased. I love my Poms. the mixed dog is also very sweet, gentle, and protective if need be. Otherwise, I'd call a vet. They would know more about different characteristics of dogs. I would recommend getting a young dog so your son can bond with it. And be very careful where you get it. Adopted animals tend to be very thankful and loving when given a home. I should know, we've adopted 4 dogs in the last year besides the ones we already had!

Hi -
we have a Bichon Frese who will be a year old in Dec, we got him in Aug for my sons 5th birthday, he (my son) and my husband for that matter both have allergies, and I was not willing to put up with hair all over the house. the dogs name is Dudley, he is fun, cuddley, doesn't bark unless he has to.. ie cat outside or knock at the door. He is home all day, plays with his toys, doesn't chew on anything, house broke fairly easy, cuddles.most of all loves the kids (i also have a 8 year old) he was bought for Alex but is the most wonderful dog, even tempered, wouldn't bite a soul, protective, fun, sweet, even my husband adores him.. don't tell him I said that. We both grew up with big dogs, so this 12 pound dog has really worked his way into our hearts.

GET A POODLE!!! They are neat and shed very little, and can be litter box trained. They do need regular grooming (every 6 weeks or so), but that's small tradeoff for no shedding. If you don't give them ridiculous haircuts, and you treat them like dogs, they can be wonderful dogs, all except the really tiny ones (the teacup poodles)-- they are just too delicate. But they come in all colors and sizes, so pick the one you like best. Just remember to take it to the vet as soon as you get it, get its shots, and plan to get it fixed when it is old enough. Good Luck!!

I have an Akita (which sheds) but, I have also had a pug, Chienese Hairless Crested, and Carin Terrier. They have all been loyal dogs until the end and they are calm (sometimes).

well i have two poodles and a chihuahua mix. the poodles don't shed a lot but they to need a bath more often. if i leave them without a bath for 10 days they smell and look dirty but the chihuahua mix can look clean for even 3 weeks...but when it's time to change hair i have more hair on my couch than the dog itself :)
poodles are also consider to be smart dogs...
