Most definitely. Chicken pox is caused by the herpes varicella virus. A primary (as opposed to someone who has been vaccinated) varicella infection generally confers complete immunity but 2nd infections seem to be increasing common perhaps because of the vaccine which has only been recently in use in the US. Varicella may also appear at a later date as herpes varicella zoster neuritis ('shingles') which is a recurrence of varicella infecting a specific nerve.

It is very rare but it has been known to happen. It mostly occurs in people who have had an EXTREMELY easy case of chicken pox. Ask your doctor for more information if you have any concerns.

Yes, believe it not. I know because it happened to me. I had it as a child an then again as an adult. I thought I was dying, my doctor laughed at me and said buy some Calamine Lotion and take a day off work. It was gross. Just affected my left hand and arm. No big deal. I was thinking I had the ebola virus or something like that.

Yes, especially if the first time you had an extremely mild case. If u have already had chicken pox, the same virus causes shingles in adults.

No, but you have had chicken pox when you were young, it can break out as shingles when you get older.
It's pretty painful. It usually appears on one side of the face or one side of the torso. But its always on one side or the other of the body.

I've had it twice. The first time was fairly mild and the second time was much worse. My understanding is that although not all that common, mild first timers can get it a second time.

It is possible to get chickenpox more than once. It's not common but it does happen. If you do get them more than once you will always have to be careful because your body probably doesn't build up immunity to them like it should normally.

Yes, you can. If you had a light case the first time, which did not confer immunity, then you could get it again.
