Absolutely not. It was a necessity that He die. To fulfill His Purpose. It was His Father's Will (see His prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane)... and it was in pure obedience to that Divine Will that He suffered death upon the Cross for our redemption - who made there (by his one oblation of himself once offered) a full, perfect, and sufficient sacrifice, oblation, and satisfaction, for the sins of the whole world; and did institute, and in his holy Gospel command us to continue, a perpetual memory of that his precious the death and sacrifice, until his coming again.
Philippians 2: 5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

At that time, I might have been like Peter, who said to Jesus when he was told by Jesus how he would die, no, not you Lord, let it not be! Peter didn't want to see this happen. But Jesus rebuked him, because Jesus knew it was in God's plan that this should happen for the good of all. I know you don't understand this, but if you would read one of the gospels, either Matthew, Mark , Luke or John it might make more sense to you.
Probably Peter did want to make himself feel better, like you say.

We are lucky they used a cross. What if they used a dodecahedron as an execution device? Could you see a church full of Catholics whipping up a wind storm all making the sign of the dodecahedron at the same time.

His blood was our atonement. He said: This is my blood of the[a] covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. Matthew 26: 28
Mark 10: 45For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
John 3 16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Now you have to be thankful He did that for you. There was no other way for you to live except for Him to die for you.
Mathew 16 21From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.
22Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. "Never, Lord!" he said. "This shall never happen to you!"
23Jesus turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men."
24Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25For whoever wants to save his life[h] will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. 26What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? 27For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father's glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done. 28I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom."

Of course all of his followers wanted to remove him from the cross. However, he told them not to, and the respected him and listened to what he said. He died on the cross to forgive us of our sins. He was the perfect sacrifice. He was the only one who could die on the cross for our sins. There would be no use for me to die on cross. It is our sin that put him up on the cross. The question is why do we put him up there? Yes, it is very hard for me to know that my savior went through great pain at my expense. He did it because he loves me, and he did it because he love you.

It was Jesus who chose to go to the cross. Nobody made Him go. It was God's will that Jesus go to the cross, but God did not make Him go. No-one had the power to make Jesus go to the cross. He did it for us.

Jesus was fulfilling the scriptures when he died on the cross.
and, he died for all humanity...this is why, as Christians, we have so much love for Christ because of what he had to go threw to cover our sins.
-you really should research your question before you ask-

I would not have taken him off te cross, because he died for our sins. If he woudn't of died we would all be like robots. We would all be perfect, and life would be so boring, if we would know what bordem is. Would you want to be a worshiping robot?

I think the real point here is that Jesus isn't on the cross. He rose from death. He did it for us, and by this gift we have salvation if we want it.
