I just found a baby kitten last night and I have no idea how old it is, what the sex is or anything. I've had cats before but never this young. How do you find out the age and sex of a kitten and is it okay to feed him cow's milk?

When they are really young it is hard because they look so similar. First the age. If his ears are about an inch high he /she is about 4 weeks old. Still needing mom-ma's milk and not very good at licking up milk with their tongue yet. There is a cat's formula you can get at walmart and other pet stores that comes with a baby bottle small enough for them to drink from. The sex part is difficult because they look the same( it looks like a button) except for a little girl will have an additional opening or elongated button. A boy will not start to grow testicles until he is about 8 weeks or more.

Look under the tail- in males, the genital opening is round and there is a space between it and the anus. If the kitten is more than a few weeks old you will see little testicles. In females the opening is more of a slit ans it is right next to the anus.
You shouldn't give cow's milk-- it can cause gas and diarrhea. Whatever you do, be sure the kitten is eating. If it is only a few weeks and and was still nursing, it may not know how to eat or drink on its own, and will need to be bottle fed. You can get KMR milk replacer and a bottle at any pet store. It can take some persistence to get them to take the bottle, but stick with it. Good Luck!!

No, you don't feed it milk, unless it is special kitten formula from the supply store. Cats are lactose intolerant and can get very bad diarrhea.
Take the kitten to the vet so they can tell you how old it is and what care it needs. It needs to be wormed and vaccinated. Parasites can be transmitted to people, so get it wormed.

Chances are if the kitten is very young, you cannot FEEL testicles on a boy. You tell the difference between males and females by looking at the distance between that anus and the urinary opening. Males have a greater distance, females a shorter distance.
