I personally think they should, it would encourage intergration and tolerance.

Not abolished, just turned into normal schools. I do not agree that children should be taught r.e as first of all it is not important, secondly it is technically brainwashing them from a young age to follow a certain religion ie christianity. Thirdly christianity is not a proven fact and if you think how much time is spent teaching children about something that may well not be true when they could be focusing on numeracy and literacy, aren't we always hearing in the news that this generation of children are way behind in their reading and writing skills?
Our children should be learning things that are worthwhile and will help them in the future.

i'm in Malaysia, and that they have the government faculties that settle for all races, besides as chinese language and Indian faculties (it is racial segregation, yet specific races tend to be a blueprint for specific religions in this area of the international). that's unfavourable in the experience that once people from a chinese language-basically or Indian-basically college graduate, they have been surrounded by utilising people who think of, look, and act like them too plenty to the element that they could't assimilate with something of society, meaning they stay lives with none variety of cultural variety. i think of this could replicate the region in the united kingdom, and in those bleak circumstances, this variety of ingredient ought to be perceived as a breeding floor for grassroot terrorism. So specific, little question they must be abolished, as in spite of stable they do would not even come on the brink of the wear they grant.

All religious schools everywhere should be abolished. Poisoning children's minds with delusional superstition is a crime against the survival of humanity. As problems become more complex, they will need innovative solutions and religion is nothing if NOT innovative.

No,I'm agnostic but I still think religion is an important part of history,
and society. Maybe the parents want to send their children to a religious school.
Once the schools aren't trying to shove religion down your throat (which they don't) I see no problem in it..

I'm an atheist, but no way. Religious schools should stay. By trying to force secularisation onto people we become as close-minded and judgmental as those who try to shove the bible down our throats.

NO.
But the link between state/school/church should be broken and then religious schools of all denominations would have the same status!
And state schools could spend time on teaching ethics instead of having assemblies.

YES.. I think religion should be taught in the building where you worship.
The children could have a morals class in schoold and learn about all the different religions so they become aware but the religious teachings themselves should be taught in the church, temple, mosque or whatever you call your place of worship....

i would not say abolish religious schools, but i would but christians in one school
and ethnic minorities in another
OR i would leave religion out of school all together !
or just have separarte religious lessons for the different religious groups. or leave religion to the church.

No, why should they?
Everyone has the right learn about their religion as well as other religions don't they?
Why do you want to take that oportunity away?
Why not leave them?
What gave you right to ask that question?
On what basis?
Can you define the meaning of Life? I do't think so....

That would put taxes up by several pence in the pound so that they could be largely ill educated by state schools, it wouldn't change their parents/communities views, what would be the point?
