If you live in the UK just go and see your doctor who will point you in the right direction.
If you havn't got a doctor just look in the phone book under NHS. There are excellent facilities in most areas and they will make sure you get the help you need.

If you live in the US, check to see if there is any adult alcohol, drug & mental health services in your area. They provide counseling, psychiatric care, medication, and assist with insurance issues. You can look for the listings under County government programs, in the beginning of your local phone book. I utilized these services and was successful in getting Social Security and insurance through this program. Good luck!

From personal experience i dont think that children and young adults know enough about charities and foundations that specialise in helping young people with mental health issues. I think that younger people are more likely to suffer in silence due to not knowing help is out there for them and that they may also feel ashamed to talk to someone about the way they have been feeling. While i was at school mental health issues in young people were never brought up and i think that it should have because many people would have appreciated knowing there are other people to turn to if they dont want to talk ti parents/gaurdians/teachers/friends about their feeling etc. I hope this helps you.

Depending on the seriousness of the problem they can range from counseling and drugs to residential homes (where I happen to work in one).
