Hi there.
It depends on the birthmark. If it is a raised birthmark (closer the the mole family) then absolutley not. If it is a flat red or brown birthmark, you can, but the final decision lays with your tattoo artist. I he/she feels that his/her artistry cannot cover it up they will be up front about it if they are reputable. Try incorporating it into the piece instead of covering it up. Good luck! Body art can be very beautiful.

I take it you want to cover up your birthmark? If you really do want to cover it up, why not try something less permanent that a tattoo? There's a product called Dermablend that is a heavy-duty corrective cosmetic, look into that maybe, as im sure that would cover up a birthmark.

yes you can if it is flat.
why cover it up though? i have a birthmark on my arm and i would never cover it up it is a part of me. you should think the same hunny. if you are going to a special do then cover it up with make-up.
plus as you get older the tattoo will fade and look horrible and you can't tan a tattoo so if you go on holiday and get a tan the tattoo won't tan leaving you with a pale mark.
but its up to you at the end of the day.
follow your heart and do what makes you feel good.

I think that's a pretty cool idea and your best bet would probably be a cosmetic tattoo artist, the same ones who do eyebrows and liner, etc. because they are used to making their tattoos more natural and they'll have more natural-looking inks. It would definitely be a good idea to take an eyeliner pencil in the color you want and go over your mark to make sure that's really what you want. When you get to the shop make sure you are very specific about color, shape, etc., and I think you'll be very happy with the end product. Good luck!

I would have thought a birthmark is just some kind of skin pigmentation. I have a birthmark on the side of both my feet and my shoulder, i love them! they are so unique to me. I think its beacause no one throughout my life has ever been negative abouth them.

well, it depends where the birthmark is. you can't tattoo over it, but can around it and make it a part of the tattoo picture.

Honey love your self as you are! Birth marks are like natural tattoos! you get born with a free tattoo! This birth mark makes your body unique, it is like a barcode! I know you might not like it because of size of what ever...but think about it for a while....has anyone else such a special natural tattoo as you?
If you ask me, I believe that it might not be healthy, plus I think a tatto over there would look ugly...and you should have a tattoo only because you really like the design and the spot also, not just a thing to cover it.
I also have a birthmark on my belly, and I also have a tattoo. I would never have had my tattoo on my birth mark. Actually I'm proud of my birth mark...It feels like a unique aspect on me that no one else has!
think about it... it distinguish you!
raise your self respect and your self esteem!
