This confuses many. A "Christian" is one who believes in and follows Jesus. A "Protestant" is one who does not believe in the Catholic church. The Catholic church is considered by many to be a pseudo-Christian cult. With good reason.
There are Protestants who may be Christians, as well there are Catholics who are also Christians. However, many Catholics (maybe most) are not Christians as there are many protestant who are not Christians either.
My advice would be for you to believe in Jesus and follow Him. Read the Bible and believe it. Pray to God and ask Him to show you the right place to be. If you are a minor, you may have to wait a while before you can decide what to do.

Protestant can be broadly defined as a Christian not of a Catholic or Eastern church (http://www.webster.com/cgi-bin/dictionary). You'd have to talk to your mom, step-dad & grandparents to find out what specifically they believe.

Ultimately, you have to make the choice for yourself, no one can believe something for you. If you're just going through motions then you may not get anything out of it anyway...Just something to think about.

I'm certainly not recommending that you defy your family, if you're young then you likely have to abide by what they ask of you (at least that's how it was in my house ;) ). But in the grander scheme of things...whatever you're going to actually believe, you will have to believe on your own...

Get your self at the same time first and practice your testimony. do no longer assume a heat hug from them for a surprising worst reaction could continually be expected yet then while after a at the same time as while that Ahuhu 2d handed, love and documents will quickly comes your way. U could keep in mind, in spite of issues they could say, the only word that should return out in u is a enormous i'm sorry and do exactly no longer attempt to make any excuses of what you probably did. Goodluck.

Protestant is just a branch of Christianity. It branched off from Catholicism when Henry VIII founded the Church of England (although it was Elizabeth I, his daughter and Martin Luther that gave the church some ground rules).

And yes, your religion (or lack of if that's your thing) is your own choice regardless of what your relatives tell you.

Pretty much all non Catholic Christian religions are considered Protestants. They split from or left the Catholic Church as a form of protest thus the term Protestant.

The term "Christian" as used by most denominations these days does not necessarily mean a belief in Christ, although they naturally would. What it refers to is the Nicene Creed and those denominations who adopted it. So most, if not all, Protestant churches are going to be "Christian" in this context. It's interesting though that if your church does not adhere to the Nicene Creed, most of these sects do not consider you Christian even though you believe in Christ.

They are all christians. Believe it or not, Catholics are christians too. Choose and follow what you believe not what somebody else tells you to. My mom and sister are catholic and the rest of my famil is lutheran. I chose to be more like a native American in my beliefs.
