I have a recipe that calls for 1-1/2 cups cut fresh green beans. How many pounds is that??

There are 8 ounces in a cup and 16 ounces in a pound, therefore 1-1/2 cups is 12 ounces or 3/4 of a pound.

I dont think it would even equal one pound. Use a liquid measuring cup and stuff them in there up to 1 1/2 cup. That is what I would do and it would be about right.

Guesstimate -- buy enough green beans that would fill 1.5 cups. Although for that little amount I'd probably just use a high quality frozen bag of green beans and call it a day!

I agree with the first answer you got here. This is kind of a visual thing. When buying the grean beans try to picture them with the ends cut off, etc. and start menally filling a one cup container.

hard to say without weighing them but my guess is less than a pound.
