A woman in my city was brutally beaten and raped by a gang of men. Although the men were charged and convicted of the crime the courts are telling the rape victim that she must have and raise her child because the rape is her own fault. They said that if she wasn't dressed so provocatively, and out looking for drugs, that this never would have happened to her. So now she is forced to raise a baby that she does not want and probably cannot even take care of. Should they be able to force a rape victim to keep their child??

The courts can not force someone to have a baby. This woman could give the baby up for adoption. Also a court would never tell a woman that she "deserved" to be raped. A defence lawyer maybe but no judge in the world would say that, and if for some awful reason a judge did do that the woman can always file a complaint against him/her.
No a rape victim should not be forced to keep a baby that was conceived by that rape.

Where do you live where abortion is against the law? Where the courts can force someone to have a baby? No it's not right. Plus NO mean NO I don't care if she prancing up and down the street butt naked. NO is NO. However she is forced to raise the baby. NO adoption agency's there?
Not only should they not be able to force rape victim to keep a child but they should have no say any anybody body. If they don't believe in abortion then they don't have to have one. But don't tell others what they can or can not do with thier own bodies.

I have never heard of this before: Making someone keep their baby at the least their pregnancy.
I think she is entitled to have an abortion. This is how i feel: there is no way i could remain pregnant knowing that the only reason why i was pregnant with that fetus was because i were raped.

If she said NO then it is rape. I don't care if she was walking around with no shirt on it dosen't mean she wants to get raped by a gang.
Or if she was out looking for dope dosen't mean she wanted to be beaten up either.

What state is she in? I have never heard that anyone can force you to have a baby when a woman dosen't want too.

For me, i wouldn't want the baby either for how it got here. But that is me and my opinion

What city do you live in? I can't imagine a court saying such a thing around here. My answer: No. A woman, rape victim or otherwise, should free to place her child with an adoption agency. That's best for both parties. Actually, I'd suggest a rape victim should have the option of abortion, too, but you didn't ask that.

Because the child is pregnant by rape, i think it would be best to not have the baby. I am totally against abortion and stuff but in this case, she is much to young and true, what if she can't love the child because of what the father did to her? No child should have a mother that can't love her because of what happened when she or he was conceived. I am a young mom and even then I couldn't even imagine being 13 and having a child, especially by rape. But if she is having the baby I hope she can get through this and learn to love her child. I am glad your mom is willing to take care of the child, :) I wish you, your mom and your sister the best of luck. Don't let something like that ruin her life, people make it through unimaginable things every year...

Wow that is kind of harsh. What country is this in? Then she is blamed for the rape? Although I do agree that women should be careful as to how they dress especially if not married or with a male companion, they are still not deserving of rape and this shouldn't be used to justify the means. I am afraid for that child because she will feel resentful and the child may end up getting abused. She needs to realise that the child has no fault but with her state of mind I am afraid for the child and therefore with that someone else should raise him/her for her/his safety.

What city are you in that abortion is not a legal option?

No, is my anwer to your post, by the way. I'm strongly pro-choice. The choice should only be up to the woman who has to live with the decisions. It's easy for a court system to order gestation, knowing they don't have to endure the physical, emotional and psychological effects of their decision.

I'm really curious where you are, that any court could order such a ridiculous ruling ...

EDIT: I just bothered to check the posters previous questions, and no longer have to wonder what city. This is a figment of the posters imagination, as are most of their other "questions". Do you have nothing better to do than make up incidents? Pathetic. At least get your facts straight .... as my son says, if you're going to lie, at least make it believable.

Oh... I think that she should be allowed to give her child in adoption through a good adoption agency who would do their best in finding a suitable couple. Saying that the rape is her fault is stupid and just justifing the irresponsability on others. Okay, I hate drugs, and they make people do stupid things, but I'm sorry that that happened.

In my opinion, rape is the only exception for an abortion. Nobody asks to be raped - I don't care what you're wearing. That baby would be a constant reminder of that brutal crime.

I think that's ridiculous. No matter how a woman dresses there's no excuse for raping her. As for forcing her to raise a baby she doesn't want I don't think anyone should be forced to do that. There are plenty of people who are very anxious to adopt newborn babies and would be willing to provide a loving secure home for them.
