The popular image of Jesus is that he is only about peace, love and non-violent resistance, but it turns out there are a number of passages in the New Testament that show him as a vengeful God.

The trick to understanding the Bible is to first consider that more often than not one verse can't just be plucked out and evaluated on it's own merit. Context is extrememly important. The verse needs to be considered in light of the verses around it and of course the Bible as a whole. Anyway, here are a few things that might help you understand this particular verse...Enjoy.
John Gill's Exposition of the Bible
Luke 19:27
But those mine enemies…
Meaning particularly the Jews, who were enemies to the person of Christ, and hated and rejected him, as the King Messiah; and rebelled against him, and would not submit to his government; and were enemies to his people, and were exceeding mad against them, and persecuted them; and to his Gospel, and the distinguishing truths of it, and to his ordinances, which they rejected against themselves:
which would not that I should reign over them;
see (Luke 19:14)
bring hither, and slay [them] before me;
which had its accomplishment in the destruction of Jerusalem, when multitudes of them were slain with the sword, both with their own, and with their enemies; and to this the parable has a special respect, and of which Christ more largely discourses in this chapter; see (Luke 19:41-44) though it is true of all natural men, that they are enemies to Christ; and so of all negligent and slothful professors, and ministers of the word, who, when Christ shall come a second time, of which his coming to destroy the Jewish nation was an emblem and pledge, will be punished with everlasting destruction by him; and then all other enemies will be slain and destroyed, sin, Satan, the world, and death: of the first of these the Jews say F14,
``in the time to come the holy, blessed God, will bring forth the evil imagination (or corruption of nature), (wjxwvw) , "and slay it before" the righteous, and the wicked.''

Larry, why don't you read the book of Revelation and see the image of the Lord you are speaking of. He as the king of kings, the prince of peace, the might one of Israel. God is peaceful and he is a victorious warrior. he created us and due to our nature of sin, we became what we are today, humans doing good, doing evil. What do you think happens to a creation when the deceiver has fallen from heaven and waits his day of judgment day to be condemn by fire but wants to see how many of God's people to take with him? Like the others above have suggested, you should read the whole passage. If you want to know God then get a glimpse of him by reading the book of Revelation chapter 1.
I just love that chapter!!
Hopes this helps.

That's a parable about a king. Jesus did not say that He wanted His enemies slain before Him. You are twisting the scripture. Read the whole passage starting in v. 11.

You're taking the scripture out of context. Jesus is giving the parable of the ten pounds and the "Lord" he is referring to is "a certain nobleman". Verse 19 is the nobleman speaking and not Jesus.

One of the most violent religions known to humans, but the Christians don't see it and when they do they justify it.
Truly a sad, sad state for humanity.
Peace.

Christainity is a religion of peace and Jesus preches love and peace unlike the muslims who preaches violence by the sword. Do you know who Jesus enenies are? Satan, sinners and u for misquoting what Jesus said. I pray he forgives you for ur comment.
