Lumbar refers to the 5 vertebrae in the lower back. Radiculo pathy means a change in sensation along the course of a nerve. Lumbar radiculopathy implies inpingement of a nerve as it exits between 2 lumbar vertebrae. Nerves are either sensory or motor. Sensory nerves may annoy but motor nerves may lead to loss of muscle function. In the vast majority of cases lumbar radiculopathy involves a sensory nerve and treatment depends upon how much it bothers you - the problem is usually temporary

Ehm..
Sciatica is a pain that results from irritation of one of sciatic nerves. This is a lower back pain that goes down to hip and then to both legs extending to feet and toes in some cases.
