Eat a healthy breakfast, a big lunch with meat and vegetables and then a small dinner. Try to limit your snacks to say, an apple and some crackers or something, nothing greasy or unhealthy, and drink lots of water. Five portions of different fruit and veg a day. Try to eat foods with roughly similar amounts of carbs, protein and fat (obviously less fat is better than more!). Preferably combine all this with exercise.
You can always have a consultation with a nutrition expert as well - a one-off won't cost much and you'll learn so much.

You want to eat healthy food or get in shape through exercises and healthy food ?? If you just want to eat healthy food, eat 4-5 small meals a day, which contains low carbs, high quality protein ( lean read meat such as chicken breast, tuna, turky ) and vegetables... and drink 3.5 to 4 liters of water throughout the day but dont drink much water 30 mins bfore and after meal. Avoid sweets, sugary foods , junk foods and avoid smoking, drinking. try to get restful sleep. Dont forget to eat very nutritious big breakfast after you wake up. Good luck!

cut down alcohol & cigarettes
drink more fluids - atleast 8 glasses of water a day
make sure you get all your vitamins and minerals - you can have supplement tablets, but all vitamins are naturally available in different foods
exercise for atleast 30 minutes atleast 3 times a week
visit www.bbc.co.uk and click on Healthy Living on the left hand side of the screen. quite good info about good food, exercise routines, how to motivate yourself to exercise and what kind of exercises to reach what level
the thing to remember is consistency. if you go to the gym / run and eat good food for a month, you will see the difference, but you have to m aintain it for a long term benefit..
good luck :)
