NOT instant! Most of the strong fairtrade organic ground coffees are good. I find using different brands each week keeps the coffee tasting better. To sound scarily like a wine taster I think it keeps you palate fresh. And I use a small amount of strong coffee rather than a large amount of milder coffee. That makes it better in my opinion.

Try Cafe Direct or Clipper Coffee. Both are of an expectional standard and are fair trade meaning that the coffee growers get a fair price for their produce rather than some large multi-national company such as Nescafe.

Eight O'clock coffee is really good and inexpensive. I buy whole bean as I have a grinder at home but you can grind it in the store. The also sell it ground but, in my opinion, it tastes better when it's freshly ground. At my supermarket it's about $5.99 for a pound (sometimes it goes on sale for $3.99!!).

I usually go for Millstone or whatever is available to grind fresh. If not, see if they carry the Starbucks brand or Seattle's Best Coffee.

Starbucks brand is good- but kind of expensive. Folgers, I think is the next best.
