Something musical, fun and funny (to a 5-year old girl in kindergarten) would be great, but I'm up for anything as we prepare for a long Thanksgiving road trip. If it's somewhat entertaining to adults (or at least not totally irritating), that would be extra special! Thanks.

If you have a large music collection (like I do), go through it and find songs you like that would be appropriate for children. My 5 year old loves The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, Rush, Cyndi Lauper and lots of other popular artists, and it doesn't grate on my nerves during long trips!
Also try looking into soundtracks to movies she likes. Many times they're songs done by popular musicians, kid-appropriate, and she can identify the movie with the songs. That keeps my kids entertained, too, when they remember the parts of the movies that go with the songs.

My 6 and 3 year old right now are all into Kids Bop, Johnny cash childrens album, and Laurie Betner. Plus check the dollar store they have music and books on CD's cheap. If its a real long trip you might want to invest in a personal CD Player. Ours came from Wal-Mart $5.88 Happy Thanks giving and I hope your travels are safe.

Bob Marley's Mother has a CD out for a few years now and I think it's called Reggae for kids.
