I am getting married in a year and I NEED to lose this weight... my weight currently between 180 and 190 pounds (81kg-86kg)...depending on the week I am having. I want to look and feel good in my wedding dress... oh and I am 5'1"... I gained all this over the last four years while in school... on campus living and eating out has significantly contributed to this coz before I started college I weighed 123lb (56kg).

Any advice on what foods I should and shouldnt eat? I plan to get on the bike for about an hour a day... and stay away from fench fries...

a good diet aims to help you lose around 2lbs per week, this may seem low but its weight you will find easier to keep off. firstly, dont even think about going on a diet, simply change to a healthier eating plan, when u are on a diet you feel deprived, and your whole world revolves around food. just change an unhealthy option for a healthy one, you wont feel deprived and the weight will come off slowly but surely. a small treat now and then is good too, just so you can eat that little bit of chocolate or whatever it is, makes you feel good and stops that feeling of deprivation. drink plenty of water, sometimes we may think we are hungry when in fact our bodies are slightly dehydrated and need fluids, so have a glass of water, wait a bit, then if you are still feeling hungry, eat. dont be tempted to go on a crash diet, you may lose weight in the short term but it will all go back on once you go back to 'normal' eating. you know what you should eat, to be honest we all do, its just we get sidetracked or tempted by things not quite so good for us.

lastly, dont panic about this weight, seems to me your guy loves you just as you are or he wouldnt be marrying you. best of luck xx

Try to cut down to 5-6 SMALL meals each day instead of three main meals (it will keep your metabolism running higher). Don't eat fatty foods. You should get your percent body fat checked, and that (along with your metabolism and amount of muscle) can help determine your Recommended Daily Amount (RDA) of calories a day. Try to cut down 300 calories a day from that (2100 calories a week). Then if you can do about 3 hours of cardio a week (not a lot since you said you were going to try and bike for an hour most days). This will give you a deficit of at least probably 4,000 - 4,500 calories a week = about 1 1/4 lbs. a week. This will help you lose the weight and KEEP IT OFF!!! Whatever you do, don't try to lose more that 2-3 lbs a week. More than that and your body won't react well (it may be more, depending on how overweight a person is). Remember, you have a whole year. Don't try to rush it, and that's what will help you stay where you end up (instead of gaining it back).

make sure you exercise sweety..i lost alot of weight and then gained it all back cause i didnt exercise and not im ok again and exercising...Deleted Answer: if people would exercise more they would not have to worry so darn much about food...Are you really serious about doing this? We are talking about hard work. Putting down your little debbies, getting off your butt and not only going on a diet but EXERCISING!!! Even if you lose the weight it will come right back if you do not have the desire and motivation to not only look cute but to be healthy. it is going to take alot of inner strength I can assure you of that. 1.) eat 4-5 small meals a day 2.) drink lots of water 3.)exercise every day 4.) do not eat 4-6 hours before you sleep.

There's no substitute for simple exercise. Losing 60 pounds in one years is quite do-able. You should expect 1 pound of weight loss per week if you exercise regularly. Exercise will have a much larger impact on your fitness and weight loss than simple dieting. Integrating 1 hour of strenuous exercise in your daily routine will do wonders.
Other than that you don't need to go for fad diets. You know what what kind of foods to avoid! Everybody knows.

If you must hit the drive through restaurants, look at their menus carefully. Healthy choices exist, even at McDonalds. There's yogurt, fruit salads, baked potatoes (wendy's), grilled chicken.

Ya gotta pay to play, nobody has ever won an olympic medal on a diet of pizza and burgers.

If you want to loose weight safely eat plenty of vegetables and fruit -- and when you get hungry thats if you do you can eat a salad -- i am 5ft 1inch just like you and i lost 168 pounds in about 18 months keep meat to an absolute minimum but if you do eat any always grill it or cook on a rack inside a roasting tin but it must cook in its own juices -- eat plenty of fish and chicken but do not eat the skin of the chicken good luck.

You might think about trying this book called "The Movie Star Diet" by Steve Simmons. It helped me lose thirty pounds in 2 1/2 months when I didn't think anything would work. My goal to begin with was only 20 lbs! It has a really easy plan to follow and an excellent workout as well.

You can also lose one pound a week

The majority of fitness professionals advise slow weight loss as the safest and most helpful approach. A sensible weight-loss program allows you to lose weight slowly -- about one-half to one pound per week. Slow weight loss promotes long-term loss of body fat, not just water weight that can be rapidly regained.

Most people need around 15 calories per pound to maintain their weight. A person of 150 pound would not eat food that contains calories more than 2250 per day in order to maintain his/her weight.

In order to burn one pound, a person need to burn 3500 calories more than they are used. For example, dropping calories by 300 per day and increasing daily movement to burn off an extra 200 calories should result in a weight loss of one pound a week.
