I just got this cat a few months ago- he is seven years old and is a strictly outdoor cat- I built a cozy house for him out of cedar but he doesn't seem to know it would be a good place to sleep.

Try sprinkling catnip in it. If that doesn't work, you are probably out of luck. I don't even know if cats like the smell of cedar. Cedar or not, cats are very picky and rarely sleep where humans want them to. They pick there on crazy spots. You can't make a cat do anything it doesn't want to do. That's the wonderful nature of the cat.

I have lived in two houses where I inherited an outdoor cat that sort of went with the house. There was no shelter for them outside from the weather. So, I built a small house up off the ground. I made a walk way for them to get up to the house. Lined the inside with old used carpet all around the walls, ceiling and floor. I put one of those round cat beds inside. It worked each time. I didn't use cedar though. Just some scrap lumber from the lumbar yard and painted it on the out side. It could be, the cedar is too strong of an odor for your cat. I don't know what to use if anything to cover the odor. But I do know a kitty house does work. Did for me twice. You might have to start over with building a house with different wood. Good luck, enjoy your new pet.

I have an outdoor cat. And he only likes me so what I was made sure his house was up off the ground that way no other animal can sneak into his yard w/ out him seeing them 1st. Then I took one of my old blankes and tshirts and put them in there so he was cozy. It seems to work, he only leaves to catch himself some of them lil' tasty birdies.

Cats like high places. You should put some warm blankets in the area and put some food there. Try leaving a trail of food leading up to the house. Also show her its a good shelter by making her happy in it.

Good Luck! Thanks for caring!

Sprinkle the house with Catnip. The only problem you may have that every cat in the neighborhood will visit.

Remeber...Dogs have owners and Cats have staff. :) I would try putting something in there that he likes...and if that does not work then you may just be out of luck.
