I don't understand why people keep asking this exact same question. A quick search yields hundreds of similar threads that already exist....

But the answer is:

......*Drumroll, please*.......

Not necessarily. It depends on the human, and it depends on the dog. Some dogs have such heavy tartar accumulation on their teeth that they actually have PUS leaking out from underneath it at their gumline, and rotting teeth/bone as a result. The same thing happens to some people with poor oral hygiene. Dogs that eat "table scraps" far and away have the worst teeth like that.

Dogs sometimes eat their own feces and feces of other animals, lick their anal areas (in which case they often lick/swallow the nasty contents of their anal sacs), and don't brush/floss daily. Not all people brush/floss daily, either....but I'm betting they don't engage in the first 2 behaviors as a general rule. ;-)

Many say the dogs mouth is cleaner than ours and this is from a long time ago.

Dogs carry a huge number of bacteria in their mouths. More than humans do.

The good news and the reason the myth; got started is the fact that very seldom the bacteria is looking for humans.
We seldom get infected from dogs. There are a few we do get and they are very bad ones. Rabies is one and is watched very closely.

Yes, but a human's mouth is still cleaner than a human's hands so make sure you wash those hands after using the restroom and before eating.

Yes, a dog's mouth is really cleaner than a human's mouth. I think it's because of the certain type of things in their mouth. :-D

Yes But that does not mean a dogs mouth is actually clean. It means human mouths are really, really dirty!
