If its true, any reason for them other than some weather related issue? Any info is helpful, but sites/links better. I'm interested to find out why the military itself would have any reason to study "a planet".

Given even a paranoid conspiracy theorist's frame of mind, why would the military need to put a satellite in orbit around Mars? We know it's a dead planet, so we can rule out the martians attacking us. We can monitor chinese launches from earth, so there's no need to put a satellite there to tell us that someone put another satellite in orbit there. The cost alone would be astronomical (pun intended), and the return would be nil. I'm sure they'd rather buy another B1 bomber instead with the money.

An artificial satellite was a man made object structure orbiting a planet, and a natural satellite would be a moon like substance caught in the gravitational field of a planet. It does not have to be as big as the moon, but it would have to be a big enough fragment or mass to be called a satellite. I hope that helps you.

Another far out that so many will believe.

There are several of them there now but not from the military.

Yeah - that's just in case the little freaks on that planet start heading our way.

Seriously, I know that NASA has a satellite there, but the US Military...?

Blame it all on H.G.Wells and that terrible Tom Cruise movie, Some general probably saw the movie, {doubt he could have read the book} and said to Dubyah!.."Mr. Pres'dent ah hayev jest seen evidence o' wepons o' mass destrercshun orn the planet Mars!..Ah beleeve them gardless atheistic mars peeple is gung lornch a toorist attack on us Mr. Pres'dent!"..You can imagine Dubyah's reaction!.."Ah newd it!..Ah jest newd it..Send erp some o' them salletites, and git Dick Cheney onto it with his shotty gern!"..Far fetched?..I dont think so!

I would not think so. Unless the military knows that the Martians are planning an assault on the United States.
Roswell? Is that you out there?
People just love a good conspiracy theory.
