Hair color really depends on a couple of things. Skin/eye coloring, hair style and personal preference will all play a role.

I'm sure you've heard the whole argument about warm/cool colors corresponding to your complexion tone, but that isn't always set in stone. There are hair colors out now have neutral tones which flatter just about everybody. Having said that though, if you have a tawny or golden complexion, stay away from "ash" or "cool" formulations (in my opinion "ash" anything doesn't look good, but that's just me) Conversely, if you have pink undertones to your skin you'd probably be well-advised to stay away from "warm" or "golden" formulas of hair color.

Hair style will also play a role. Jet black hair can look amazing on some woman (especially ones with short hair) but look like Morticia Addams on others. Basically, if you have a long, dramatic hairstyle, dying your hair a dramatic color will look, well...too dramatic. The idea is to pick a color that will enhance your style, not overwhelm it.

Personal preference is pretty self-explainatory. What someone may think is fabulous you may think is awful, so be sure to stick to your guns--it's your hair, after all.

You can go to the Clairol website and either put in a digital picture of yourself or browse the different profiles they already have. You can see the different hairstyles and colors that suit you.
