my mum introduced me to him but when i got close to him my mum said no since he had not done anything to help in the past now i live with my step dad and i miss my dad so much but i cant get close to him he is marrried and have children but i want to be close to my dad coz i love him but am scared to destroy both families mine and my dad.please help.nimed

You are an adult so why are you allowing your mother to dictate to you whether or not you have a relationship with your father? I have been in that situation too and although my kids dad was NEVER involved I didn't stop her from seeing him when he finally decided to remember that he had a child. A mothers true love is unconditional and if your mother has that for you then she would not hurt you this way. Your fathers other children are your brothers and sisters and you shouldn't be forced to stay away from them because of your mothers bitterness. You should see your father and give your mother her time to accept the fact and if she can't then there's no unconditional love for you. You have to live your own life now and it's her choice whether or not she's in it.

It sounds like your dad did not help out financially when you were growing up, so she is not wanting you to have a relationship with him because of that. Which I can understand, being a mother myself. Also, if he wanted a relationship with you he should have been more responsible and provided for you financially. You could always wait until you are moved out of your mothers house and start up something with your father. It would probably be better then. Good Luck.

you are an adult now and you should beable to make your own choices. Have a heart to heart with your mum and tell her how you feel.
