Breakfast can be hot or cold, anything from pastries, to breakfast cereal, to eggs, bacon, hash browns, and toast.
Lunch is usually cold and quick. Its a smaller meal than dinner/supper (which is the same thing). Most people equate Lunch with a burger, a sandwich, or a salad.
Dinner/Supper is the evening meal that is usually a hot meal. Depending on the person, it could be a meal at a fast food restaurant or one with the family. There really is no norm in America.
Because of the many cultures represented in America, there really is no norm for what foods are eaten at each meal.

breakfast is usually some combination of pancakes or waffles, toast, cereal, milk or juice, and bacon or sausage. Lunch I usually have a sandwich, but there are a ton of different lunches to eat: tacos, hamburgers, chinese, pasta, pizza, Japanese, and many many more. Dinner is about the same thing as lunch, just a ton of different choices, I prefer a steak, but often end up eating some kind of meat dinner with a side of vegetables, bread, and some milk beer or soda to drinki.

Breakfast foods are, Bacon, Sausage, Ham, Eggs, Pancakes, Toast, and some form of pan fried potato, Hash browns or Home Fries, Oatmeal, Grits or other Cereals.
Lunch/Dinner usually a form of a light Supper.
Supper consists of Salad, any kind of meat, Beef or Pork or Lamb, Vegetables and Bread.
That's just a rough idea, but I'm sure you get the general idea of it.
Hope it helps.
And not everyone eats "breakfast" foods at breakfast. I've eaten hamburgers for breakfast and Eggs and Hash browns for Supper.

Breakfast is usually eaten in the morning, our 1st meal of the day. Mostly we eat, eggs, breads, cereals, hot or cold, fruit, yogurt, sausage, bacon or ham. Lunch is the middle meal and can be comprised of a sandwich and fries or chips and also fruit and maybe cookies or cake/pie. Dinner/supper is the last meal eaten and can contain most anything! Traditionally it is meat, potatoes, another vegetable and bread and salad. Hope this helps you out.

America has many cultures so people eat lots of different things depending what part of the country they are from.
I'm in the NYC area and usually have cereal or toast for breakfast, a sandwich or salad for lunch and a variety fo different things for dinner like pasta, stir-fry veggies, hamburgers with fries, risotto, pizza etc etc.
You will find that many people in different parts of the country eat totally different foods then I do.

usualy people eat breakfast( in the morning)
lunch(second meal)
dinner(last meal of the day)
sometimes between breakfast an lunch people will have a snack. snacks are usualy smaller and are just eaten to prevent hunger from creeping up. so in total americans have three meals a day with an occasional snack.

Breakfast is cereal, fruit, poptarts (yuck), or eggs, bacon, or sausage with toast. Lunch is salad, sandwich and/or soup. Dinner is usually a protein, veggies and a starch. In Texas, the big thing is chicken fried steak (pounded round steak fried like chicken), mashed potatoes and cream gravy with a side of pinto beans.
