Hello! i had home tuition for economics because I am taking economics as one of my subjects for my high school course (if you consider high school student as an adult) and my tuition rate is like $25 per hour. I would recommend home tuition because you get to have all the attention from the teacher. Quite effective. And the teacher tends to be really patient to you because you are the only student. (=

I had home tuition in the piano for a while on a one to one basis and I've also been to private tuition for violin lessons. The thing you will find is that very few teachers along these lines have the courage to criticise another adult properly. I gave up my violin lessons because the teacher just expected me to provide the material I wanted all the time. He didn't use his initiative at all and I got fed up of it. I have tried on several occasions but as I said, unless you get a teacher who is enthusiastic about what they do, you're onto a loser.

I did my final year of High School and my Bachelors degree through distance education it works but its not perfect and requires more dedication.
The cost is about 65% of the fees for full time study, not a great value for money considering but it gives you time and flexibility. What you dont get is a motivator, elucidator and peer support.
