There's a relatively new complex just down the road from the theatre (can't remember the road names but it's right, if you're facing the theatre). There are a few restaurants and bars there to choose from. Also Pizza Express, ASK, one of the steak house chains etc. along the road the opposite way. Or if you want something really quick there's always the Cornish Bakehouse Cornish pasties on the corner (if you don't mind paying 2.50 for one!). Tiles restaurant is not far on Buckingham Palace road - nice relaxed atmosphere and also Bumbles (haven't been there) just a few doors up from there. On the other side of the road there there's an Italian too. Loads of choice!

Il Convivio on Ebury Street - it's not cheap but it is great. If you want to eat there New Years Eve you'd probably have to book right this second.

I would imagine they have a special menu on a night like that - but if they don't beware! Their standard menu allows you to choose two from starters, pasta and main course - for heaven's sake don't deny yourself! Choose pasta to start, then meat - the way italians do it.

The food is just lovely - like many top notch restaurants the starters are perhaps a little more interesting than the main courses - but the wine list is excellent, and good value for that type of place, and there is a wonderful bar downstairs which you can retire to and drink after your lovely meal.

I envy you your choice!

Il Posto is very romantic - it has low, plastered ceilings and soft lighting (at least it did last time I went) and is waitered (and owned, I believe) by Italians.

There is an Ask, which is, yes, one of the chain restaurants, but is a rather nice specimen. There are also a couple down Buckingham Palace Road, one of which is called Larco - I've never been in to eat but it is always busy, looks delightful from the outside and the reviews are good.

It's only a small area but is well-packed with nice restaurants!

Have fun...

There are plenty of good, romantic Italian restaurants, near Victoria Station; some mostly on Ebury St.

L'Incontre
Il Convivio
Santini
Olivio

Check out this website and good luck!

Scallini's in Knightsbridge, Walton Street, just up from Victoria, about 5 mins away. Brilliant food, attentive and discreet waiters, as mentioned on a previous message, ask for the front of house, not the back of house. Enjoy
