I know you become a Christian and ask for Jesus to come into your life, that the Holy Spirit comes into your heart and is what helps make you the person God wants you to be.
But what if you stray so many times, and have denied God for so long, does the Holy Spirit leave you? If so, does that mean that God will not hear my prayers?

No matter what we do God does not leave us. That is why he is our Holy Father. What happens when you are not in touch with someone? You lose those precious moments were you share your most intimate moments. Well the same with the Holy Spirit- if we keep cutting him off he just won´t be there until we reach out and try again. We need to start by accepting that we have sinned AGAIN, and asking for mercy. Love is God and God is Love. He´ll be there if we reach out for him.

The Holy Spirit will surely leave you if you stray away from God. Because God is regenerated spirit in every man believer.

Jesus said that the Holy Spirit is with you forever (John14:16). If you are a believer you cannot deny God because the Holy Spirit will not help you to do so (1 Cor 12:3). So you are saved and a saint forever even though you may sin. God still loves you when you sin because you are His child (see the story of the prodigal son in the Bible - Luke 15:11-32) and will hear your prayers to help you out. But you should embrace and keep in God's grace so that sin shall have no power over you (Rom 6:14). The problem for such a person is simply not using God's grace to overcome sin.

Once you have the Holy Spirit - you are sealed. It cannot be taken from you. A person can backslide - turn away from God - but still the Holy Spirit remains. God wants a right relationship with us and we have to get back with God - confessing our sin and getting close to Him again. He will hear us when we do this - He is faithful.

I agree; there is a slant, and a subtle slant. I have a dear friend who is a JW. She has never proselytized to me. (I am her music teacher.) However, she is a woman of faith and strong love for God and family values. With that being said, the Watchtower types who come to my door are sent away by my telling them I am a follower of Christ.

The holy spirit will never leave you as long has u have him in your heart.Just because you strayed and denied he was still there. He will always be there if you have him in your heart. He,ll still answer your prayers but u have to be sincere.Remember he,s only where u want him to be!

"Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption." -- Ephesians 4:30

It would seem that true Christians are SEALED unto the day of Redemption ... but that it is possible to grieve the Holy Spirit.

It seems that Christians do "stray" or "backslide", but if you "stray so many times" or "have denied God for so long", then were you ever "saved" and "sealed" by the Holy Spirit ... or did you must repeat some words (even if it were the words of the "sinner's" prayer) but did not "become" a Christian and receive Christ inti your heart/life?

no, forgive me because I know bible verses, but don't always remember where they are from: I know there is a verse in the bible that says : " I will never leave you or forsake you".

As soon as I find it I will write what it is .Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong & courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes w/ you; he will never leave you or forsake you.

Hope this info. helps
