I don't know your problem, so I'll go general.
There're 2 types of love:
The 1st type of love is what most of us experience. An attachment. A form of liking that we mistaken for love. May be liking towards a person's body, a person's intelligence, a person's character. And these things cause you to be drawn to that person. To like may also be similar to desire. Like desire for sex, touches, etc. These are not authentic love.
The 2nd love is unconditional love. This is when we care and love for all living beings regardless of species, race, belief, etc. The idea is that everyone is originally good and so deserve your unconditional without bias or prejudice. This kind of love is only present among spiritual masters.

Love is many things to many people. I think what you want to know is "what is being in love", and that's even harder to answer. Love is an emotion, plain and simple. A combination of acceptance, longing, friendship, tolerance, and satisfaction is a close representation, along with other potential factors. If you want to break it down to biological factors, love is an attraction to another person for the purpose of sexual gratification and/or reproduction for the continuation of the human race.

To me love is impossible to define. Yet easy to say. Hard to prove. Has many levles and depths. Can make a person and in the same breath destroy one.To me out of all the phrases the one that means the most to me is. Love is not a word it is a action.
