You or your parents may not be used to the idea of measuring energy in Joules. An alternative unit that is used is Calories. You see these on just about every food packet. One calorie is the same amount of energy as 4.2 Joules.

The daily use of energy is:-

1) Baby --- 1000 kilo calories (1 Million calories)
2) Child --- 2000 kilo calories (2 Million calories)
3) Girl/Boy (i.e. you) --- 2,500-3000 kilo calories (3 Million calories)
4) Woman --- 2200 kilo calories (2.2 Million calories)
5) Man --- 3000 kilo calories (3 Million calories)
6) Manuel labourer --- 4000 kilo calories (4 Million calories)

Different foods contain different amounts of chemical energy.
For example, a 24 gram bar of chocolate contains the same amount of energy as 1kg bag of tomatoes..

I am not clear on the question.. but I will give this a shot anyways.

Many of the items listed for daily intake values represent the caloric value suggested to maintain good overall health. Usually this is based on 2,000 calories per day.

The percentages represented is how much each food has of each: protein, sugar, sodium, etc that is suggested for daily intake ...

Many people require diets that cut out sodium, sugars and etc. so they would look on these package labels to help adjust their diets accordingly.
