We are going to go back to a perfect earth. The way God intended it to be from the start. You can study the first chapter of Genesis and the last chapter of Revelation to get a better view of what life is going to be like after we are transfigured into our new bodies.

If you cling to earthly desires then the earth is where your spirit belongs-if you seek divine truths and overcome the illusion of materialist desire then your soul belongs in the spiritual realm so it can never become earth bound.

The Bible clearly tells us at Eccl.9:5 "The living are conscious that they will die,but as for the dead they are conscious of nothing at all."
Gen.3:19 states ".....until you return to the ground,for out of it you were taken.For dust you are and to dust you will return"
The Bible teaches that when we die,we cease to exist.We remain in God's memory and in His due time all the dead will be resurrected.(Acts24:15;John5:28,29)
Jehovah God created the earth for humans to occupy.The Bible does not teach that all good people go to heaven.Instead it clearly shows that obedient mankind will enjoy everlasting life on a paradise earth,just like what Adam and Eve enjoyed until they sinned and lost everything not only for themselves but also for the rest of mankind.Because we are offspring of that first human pair we age,grow old,get sick and die.That was not God's plan for man.He designed man to live forever on a beautiful paradise earth.And in his due time it will be again(Ps37:9-11,29;Pr.2:21;
Rev.21:3,4;Dan.2:44)

when we die, the bible tells us, that we lay asleep...awaiting our judgment. When we are brought back for the first judgment, then our sins will find us out...those who rejected the Lord, and Jesus,..will go back to the endless sleep and disinegrate into dust..those who held on in spite of what others mocked them and made fun of them and rebelled against..will be with God and Jesus in a beautiful new world...we will not be floating around like spirits in an endless state of mind

I'm sure there are those who have no plans for the "afterlife" who will just hang around. I may do it for a brief time before I move on to my next incarnation/life
