Lamb is the word for the meat from young sheep and when th esheep matures the meat is called mutton and has a much stronger taste.

Strangely enough we call it LAMB

The answer above is incorrect as it's only mutton when it comes from mature sheep, not from lambs.

Sheep (older) ----> the meat is called mutton.

In my dialect, we pronounce the "b" in lamb.
